Russell Munroe, Casey Lavender, Daniel Webb, Kyle Foster and Wesley Williams mentor at Highland Elementary School. Student Mentors are RHS seniors selected on the basis grades, attendance, and self-discipline. The students selected serve as role models to their "littles" so only the very best overall students are considered for the program.
Mentors are required to meet with their "little" at least 100 hours during the course of the school year. These meetings occur at least twice a week at the "littles" school. During this mentoring time the "bigs" may help the "littles" with academic work if necessary or they may help the "little" with self confidence, self esteem, or often the “bigs” just serve as a friend to their “little”. The big brother/big sister program in Madison County is the largest program in the nation.
The program at Ridgeland High School began in 2003 and since then over 300 seniors have mentored to over 500 "littles".
The Titan baseball program is proud of its Mentors!
